UNC Charlotte

The Southwest Education Alliance has enjoyed a long-standing partnership with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and its Cato College of Education. Through this partnership, UNCC and the SWEA collaboratively identify service needs of the member school systems of the SWEA. The University assists the SWEA staff in meeting these needs by identifying faculty and staff who have relevant talents, interests, and experiences. The SWEA provides information to member districts on UNCC activities and projects and explores opportunities for the University to provide formal and informal professional development programs with the staff of member districts. In 2019, the Southwest Education Alliance and UNCC submitted a joint application for funding under the Transforming Principal Preparation Program. This application was approved, and the five-year program allows member school districts to annually place students in a Master’s Degree in School Administration program at UNCC at no cost to the individual or the school district. Many SWEA activities are held on the UNCC campus and the SWEA has an office housed within the Cato College of Education. The SWEA appreciates our partnership with UNCC and that, over the years, the partnership has benefitted both organizations.
